Welcome to our homepage!
We are a local chapter of the German Red Cross organisation. As the most of our visitors are
German-speaking the information on this site is in German. But to give you a small
impression of who we are and what we are doing, here are some details in English. Click here, if you want a complete translation of the German texts. (Because this is an automatic generated verbatim translation by google.com, the contents on these pages may not be reliable.)
If you have any questions or want to get further information, feel free to contact us.
Our whole organisation depends on the Idea and the Ideals of the International Red
Cross Movement, founded in 1864 by Henry Dunant.
Because we are a non state organisiation, we have to meet our expenses with
membership
subscriptions of our promotion members and gifts.
Our union of volunteers is responsible for Rengsdorf's Communities. These
communities/districts are in the county of Neuwied which is north of
Koblenz (in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany).
We work in different specialized areas:
Meals-on-Wheels: Sometimes the elderly has dificulty with everyday chores we
take for granted. The Red Cross tries to assist the ederly by bringing warm meals to
their homes daily.
Emergency Home Care: Again this service is directed specifically at our edlerly
citizens, who in a time of need can simply push a button on a device we provide for
them, and they get an Emergency Response team that will come to their homes and provide aid.
Emergency Service: There are 5 Rescue Stations in the county of Neuwied. In Asbach,
Neuwied, Dierdorf, Linz and Waldbreitbach. Our medics stay alert and ready to respond to
any Emergency call.
Blood Donations: Since 1963, we have called on the people of our community to Donate
Blood. We work closely with the regional blood bank service called "Blutspendedienst West".
This service ensures there is never a shortage of blood when needed.
Clothing Bank: This Service provides clothing to people in need of clothing
following a disaster or inability to purchase clothing themselves.
Junior Red Cross: In 2001, we re-organised our youth programs in order to better
instruct our youth in the ways of the Red-Cross and to provide them with First Aid and
CPR Training. Our goal is to provide young people with meaningful opportunities for
education, training, and volunteer/community service so that they remain a part of the
Red Cross family throughout their lives.
Disaster Relief: During 1993-1994, the county of Neuwied built a First Response team
to aid the people in case of a major disaster. In Rengsdorf, you find two Bases of this
project: The Food Supply and Communication Services, they are responsible for
contact between the different units.
First Aid Services: Law requires that all organisers of bigger events have a basic Emergency service present. This service provides basic care to those who need it such as
with minor injuries such as bruises and stratches, and can call on the emergency services
in cases of need where more extensive care is required.
